Scott Hughes
Clinical Director
BVSc BSc MSc MVM MRCVSScott was born in New Zealand, and moved between his homeland and the UK in the 80s and 90s, picking up degrees and veterinary experience along the way. Frustrated with New Zealand’s beautiful beaches and spectacular vistas, Scott settled in Southampton and joined Adelaide in 2018.
He has three children, and enjoys travel, food and long-distance triathlons.

Miguel Lopes
Veterinary Surgeon
MRCVSMiguel graduated from Oporto University in 2004, and moved to the UK where he worked for 10 years in referral hospitals and emergency medicine, mostly on nights. Deciding it would be nice to see some daylight, he then joined the Adelaide team!
Miguel is now studying for a certificate in diagnostic imaging.
He is a keen water sportsman, enjoys cooking and eating, and owns two cats, and a beloved bearded dragon Norbert.

Luke Halladay
Veterinary Surgeon
BVSc BSc MRCVSLuke is a local lad and worked with us as a trainee, before graduating from the University of Liverpool and working both in Hampshire and up north. He has a variety of interests, including in exotics, keeping tortoises, fish, frogs, salamanders and birds at home, as well as two dogs and two rabbits.
Luke has also started a veterinary certificate in exotics.
His hobbies include brewing beer, fishing and painting war figurines.

Koro Aramburu
Veterinary Surgeon
MRCVSKoro recently graduated from Zaragoza University (Spain) in 2022. She did volunteer internships in two Wildlife Rescue Centres and a zoo during her degree. She also has a special interest in exotic pets and wild animals. Willing to know how it’s like to live in another country, she moved to Southampton in January 2023 to gain some work experience abroad and started work at Adelaide.
Her hobbies include drawing, playing sports, watching cartoons, reading comics and, matching the general trend in the surgery, cooking and eating delicious food.

Dr Cassidy Smith
Veterinary Surgeon
MRCVSCassidy qualified in 2024 and started at Adelaide shortly after her graduation.

Jo Phelan
Practice Manager & Veterinary Nurse
RVNJo trained as a veterinary nurse at Adelaide and qualified in 2008. After gaining experience elsewhere she returned in 2014 to head the nursing team, becoming practice manager in 2018.
She owns a horse and competes in dressage and shows. She has a Cavapoo, and loves looking after our inpatients when she has some nursing time.

Claire Cole
Practice Manager
Claire started at Adelaide in 2022 as practice manager. Her previous career was in management in central government. Claire has fallen in love with Adelaide and working with the teams and animals!
Claire has a rescue dog from Romania, Silas is a Labrador x Pointer. Claire enjoys spending time with her family and doing pilates in her spare time.

Paige Emery
Head Veterinary Nurse
RVNPaige joined the team in 2015 after studying animal management at Sparsholt College, qualifying as a veterinary nurse in 2018. Paige now leads the head nurse team with Chelsea and Bethany.
She loves miniature schnauzers and enjoys fitness and skiing. At work she loves looking after the animals and cares for them as if they were her own.

Chelsea Grinstead
Head Veterinary Nurse
RVNChelsea has been working at Adelaide since 2015 and qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2019.
Her favourite aspects of nursing are anaesthesiology and caring for the hospitalised inpatients. She loves the variety that comes with being an RVN as every day is different!
She also has a particular soft spot for cats and has her own cats called Roxy and Leo. In her spare time she enjoys socialising with family and friends.

Bethany Grabin
Head Veterinary Nurse
RVNBethany has a degree in animal science, welfare and behaviour and previously worked for six years at the RSPCA as an animal care assistant, before joining us in 2013. She enjoys caring for all our in-patients and has a particular interest in small furries and birds.
She has a cat, and fish as well as sharing a horse which she rides regularly.

Lauren Penny
Registered Veterinary Nurse
RVNAfter working at Adelaide as a student veterinary nurse in 2019 and then again in 2020 Lauren has now returned as a registered veterinary nurse after completing her degree in veterinary nursing science.
Her favourite part of nursing is anaesthetics and when she’s in theatre being able to monitor the lovely patients!
Lauren has a passion for sighthounds and in her spare time she loves going on runs with her two whippets Flo and Lupin

RVNAnnabelle qualified in 2024 and joined the team after being at the clinic on placement.

Shelley Orlowski
Head Receptionist
Shelley joined Adelaide five years ago and hasn’t looked back. She loves the diversity of working at Adelaide, with no two days ever the same!
She is fond of all animals, with the exception of snakes! Her two lively dogs keep her busy outside of work and when she is not walking, washing or cleaning up after them, she likes to bake and has recently taken up golf.

Jackie McDonald
Receptionist
Jackie has been a receptionist since 2007. She enjoys meeting pets and clients and a cat called Theo who she adopted and now rules the house.
She keeps fit by walking and going to the gym, and loves to ski every year!

Wendy Harckham
Receptionist
Wendy joined in October 2022, she previously worked in the NHS, however her love of animals took over. Wendy has a Cavapoo called Fern, who is a little bundle of joy. In her spare time she loves spending time with family and friends and adventures in my new campervan called Vera.

Shannon Tragheim
Receptionist
Shannon has a degree in animal management and went on to become a zookeeper for 6 years where she worked with elephants. Shannon has had the honor of meeting Sir David Attenbourg and still visits the zoo frequently.
Shannon has a beagle and cat at home and is the first one to greet a beagle when they come to Adelaide. In her spare time Shannon loves exploring new countries and going on fun adventures with her family.

Sara Read
Receptionist
Sara transferred from the NHS in 2024. She has a love of Dachshund and little dogs. Sara enjoys lots of crafts particularly crochet with a Prosecco in hand. She is happiest by the sea which is where you will find her when she is not at work! -
